Radrunner 3 Plus Electric Utility Bike

Radrunner 3 Plus Electric Bike: Price, Specifications, And More

Rad Power Bikes is back with a new version of the company’s RadRunner Plus. The new model, known as Rad Runner 3 Plus (not to be confused with the RadRunner 2 which is still available as the cheapest model), is the brand’s new top-of-the-line electric utility bike. This latest model sees several major upgrades to the bike’s components, design, and performance.

A Brief History of RadRunner

For those who don’t know, the RadRunner line is THE budget electric bike. It was unveiled in 2019 (which is pretty much “old” considering the brief timeline of e-bikes in the US), launching a new wave of low-cost utility e-bike knockoffs. The step-through design, ease of carrying a passenger, and conveniently short wheelbase made it a huge success. The design has been imitated everywhere, but never really equaled.

RadRunner has been refined over the years, first with RadRunner Plus and then with RadRunner 2. And now we come to the present with today’s release of RadRunner 3 Plus.

The Rad Runner 3 Plus has the same basic performance specs as all previous models, namely a top speed of 32 km/h (20 mph) and a range of 40 to 70 km (25 to 45 miles) with throttle or pedal assist. . The company is working on a second battery option to increase the range to 100 miles (160 km), though more on that in a bit.

While speed on flat terrain remains unchanged, the 750W motor has been redesigned for better hill climbing performance that should help riders reach the top of local climbs 10% faster.

The bike’s frame has also been revised to improve handling and offer a longer bench seat to carry more cargo in the rear. That’s a key consideration for a bike rated to support up to 350 lbs.

Several other new components grace the bike, like the brand’s updated battery that is now half-integrated into the frame. The 48V, 14Ah design offers the same 672 Wh of capacity, but now has a sleeker look than the previous RadRunner Plus.

The Tektro hydraulic brakes bring the bike to a quick and controlled stop, and the levers even include adjustability so smaller and larger hands feel equally comfortable reaching the levers.

In fact, the bike also has a wide range of rider heights. Anyone from 4’11” to 6’2″ (150-188cm) should feel right at home on the bike.

For those who opt for pedal assist, there are five levels to choose from. For riders who just throttle, they have that too. But the design of the RadRunner 3 Plus makes it one of the few utility-style or moped-style e-bikes that are truly comfortable to pedal thanks to a real bike saddle that offers true adjustability.

For those who want to pedal even more, a second battery to be placed under the rack will help offer up to 100 miles (160 km) of range.

However, it seems that the second battery is not ready to buy yet. Hopefully Rad will be able to offer that option soon because it looks like a great addition to delivery people or anyone else who regularly commutes long distances on their e-bike.

The RadRunner 3 Plus is compatible with a host of accessories including a locking center console, upgraded rear passenger seat, locking hard saddlebags, a new RadTrailer for behind-the-bike cargo towing, and more. In fact, Rad says there are over 350 accessory combinations for the new electric bike, which means you could have a pretty unique setup if you want to go crazy with accessory options.

It’s an important part of the design, as Rad Power Bikes CEO Phil Molyneux explained:

“Designed for work, play and everything in between, the latest additions to our line of electric bikes and accessories are as versatile as our riders. We know that our e-bikes are an extension of our riders’ lifestyles, and we’re excited to see how each individual within our vast Rad community personalizes their ride to enhance their lives and make everyday experiences, even errands, rides. funny”.

That new RadTrailer is particularly interesting, especially with the pet insert that gives you a stable setup to safely tote your four-legged friend.

RadRunner 3 Plus is now available for purchase online and at Rad’s brick-and-mortar stores in the US, where would-be riders can test drive the bike in person.

the bike is priced at US$2,499 in the US Canadians, the British and the rest of Europe can pick it up for C$2,999, GBP 2,199 in the UK, and €2,499 in the EU.
